Who knew that SE Wyoming would get a light freeze on June 14th?? Yep - the low was 32 degrees that night. UGH!! Been a really tough spring here, cold, wet and rainy. I lost by Brandywines and other slicing tomatoes. However, the San Marz's still have a row or two of healthy leaves on the bottom of the plant, while the upper leaves froze. I'm thinking that because of these few healthy leaves, the plants may come back. Am I correct? I'm planning on giving them a boost with a dose of fish emulsion tonight. Should I cut off the upper, damaged leaves, or not? I would hate to create such a large wound on these plants. What do you guys think?

The plants might branch out new shoots at the bottom. I have had that happen.

Sorry to hear that. I had a light frost on June 5th that singed but did not seriously damage my tomatoes. Yours should come back if they have at least one or two axillary buds above soil level. I've had tomatoes rebound this way in the fall after the first fall frost. I'd say wait for the frosted foliage to dry out, then cut it off. It is merely a cosmetic issue.

Melfied - Don't you love Wyoming - I am on the other side of the state but our weather is similar - we do have a GH for the Tomatoes but for the outside crops - it is going to freeze tonight (25 degrees) and tomorrow night (29 degrees) - best advice - Cover Them!!!
