I'm curious to know if the Zucchini goes through cycles of having more of one type of blossom.

My zucchini plants (all three) gave me a good amount of female blossoms the first round. By round, I mean when blooming started happening on the plant, a good amount of them were female. So happily, I ate 5 zucchinis this week alone and have a couple more almost ready to do!

But I have noticed that most of the new growth coming in are male flowers and barely any female.

So that leads to my question, does it cycle "turns" of the blossom type? Because I had a good round of mostly female blossoms, and now male, is that a common occurrence? I think I read something about the more zucchini's I take off of the plant (when fully grown to eat) the more stems shoot up to either produce zucchini or male flowers?
