They will sprawl a bit if not planted tightly. The plants kinda like to fall all over each other for support help.

Some heirloom beans that are labeled as bush variety will have a little vine doo-hicky on top but are nothing like pole beans. Usually a thin bamboo stick or something like that will keep the mini-vine from falling over.

Some of my Fordhook 242 bush limas have a vine that doesn't amount to much in the long run. Maybe yours will be like that.

Jackson Wonder does send out seed spikes and the bean pod s form along them, but never had one vine or need any type of trellis.

I agree with the above posts. No trellis needed. There is some value in planting double rows for mutual support but that is not absolutely necessary IMO.

I planted Fordhook or Jackson Wonder... can't remember now. I have the same thing happening. A few shot up vines about 24" long. I put in a string trellis along the edge of a 4x4 raised bed and have about three 36" vines on it now. I would not bother trellising or staking. Just turn the runners back over the plant mass and let it go.

This is what I've got here. The little fencey thing is what I usually use to support my bush beans. It was already in place before these began their vining.
