We were always blessed to have someone near us who always grew huge surpluses of cucuzzi. Down here in SE Louisiana they are called "gagootza".

Well, one-by-one, all of our sources either moved or quit growing these monstrous and delicious vegetables.

I have 3 vines going this year. They are each about 15 feet long and are making flowers. However, none of the flowers are setting fruit. I know that other cucurbits will make a lot of male flowers in the early stages of flowering.

Will I see baby cucuzzi under the female flowers like I do with my summer squash and cucumbers? If not, is there any other way to distinguish between male and female cucuzzi flowers?
