Public Service Message: Beware of SVBs when buying potted squash

Christian

I grow all my plants from seed, but the past 2 weeks, I have made several trips to both Lowes and Home Depot close to my house (in Garland, TX) and 2 times, I stopped by their potted plants to see what kinds of veggies they were selling out of curiosity, and both times I saw an SVB moth flying among the plants. I even picked off an egg from one of the stems! ( I could not resist).

So beware when you buy these plants. You could be getting pre-infested plants. Know what the eggs look like ( check google for pics of SVB eggs) and make sure you dont have any on your plants before you plant them.
