tomatillos dropping

I am growing several dozen tomatillo plants that I started from seed. They appear healthy except that I am finding quite a few tomatillos (still in the husk) on the ground under my plants. The husks are yellowish and the fruits are still very small, about marble size. They are immature and no where near large enough to fill the husk. Is this normal for some tomatillos to drop?
Thanks!

The.plant might be stressed in some way. maybe over watering or too damp soil causing root rot? i really don't know maybe they are just not getting pollinated. could be alot of things but no that's not normal.

It is normal for some of the fruit to drop before getting large enough to eat. Mine range from marble size to apricot size when they drop.

Thank you for your comments! There are a lot of fruits on the plants and they seem to be increasing in size. I won't worry about the ones that have dropped. If even half of the tomatillos mature, I will have a lot more than I will know what to do with.

Several dozen? I get all I need from 2-3plants! Wow!

RE: tomatillos dropping

My tomatillos don't seem to be making it to maturity. They are still dropping at a steady rate. The few that have matured are currupted by a worm. :( I have dusted with Bt with the hope that will help, but I haven't ID'd the worm yet so who knows.
Any other thoughts why the fruits aren't making it to maturity?
I have an insane number of plants.... planted a full seed packet thinking germination might be a problem. Obviously it wasn't. Could overcrowding be an issue? Lack of sunlight in the interior of the tomatillo jungle?
