Hand Pollination In Wet Weather

I went outside and I finally have a female pumpkin bloom opening. I've had tons of them develop, but then wither and die off before ever opening, so I'm really excited. However, we had a thunderstorm last night, and I went out just now to hand pollinate, but I'm not so sure it went very well, as the pollen didn't even transfer to my fingers very much. I picked maybe 3-4 males and rubbeb them on the female. Is that likely to work, even wet, in very humid conditions? I left the male bits inside the female's petals as I read somewhere. I did see bees around. But as I said, it's very wet out there...and the pollen seemed moist. Is that likely to cause issues?
