 o
wax pepper woes

I just returned from vacation to find my wax peppers in terrible shape. It looks like someone/something ate half of each pepper from my three plants. Or could this be caused by disease/fungus?

The damage happened in only 7 days - some of these days were very hot here in NJ.

I have flamingo and cayenne peppers in close proximity with no signs of trouble.

Can anyone suggest what caused this? I'd like to avoid the same problems/mistakes next year.

Photo attached.

Thank you.

Something ate it. Nothing to do now except daily harvests if/when are ready.

Did you look for worms inside the peppers? Corn ear worm or pepper hornworm.

Thanks for the comments. Unfortunately, most of the peppers were picked & tossed before I could study them, but I didn't see any worms around this plant or adjacent pepper plants. There's a sweet pepper (flamingo) next to the wax pepper and it has no signs of damage.
