Cucumber turning yellow

Hi all,

This is my first post. I live just outside Montreal (zone 5) and am having some difficulties with some spacemaster cukes. The leaves have been turning yellow but I don't believe I've been under/over-watering. Any advice on how much I should be watering or what else may be causing this? I have 4 squash plants that are doing amazing in the same plot. The cuke plants haven't really grown any in the last few weeks either. The daytime temps presently are between 77-90F/25-32C.

Cheers,

Fergus

I think this looks like Nitrogen deficiency in the soil. You need to add a Nitrogen fertilizer for dark green leaves. I use a Nitrogen fertilizer till the plants are big enough and have dark green leaves. After that you can switch to a low Nitrogen fertilizer.

Poor soil. Probably that soil has lots of wood chips.
I would scrape away as much soil from around those plans ( up to 2ft in diameter and add decent aged compost and fertilize lightly.

Can you please tell us what soil/mix you used?

It is the soil. Add manure, or or mushroom compost. Your soil is too woody.
