My Greenhouse eggplants did terribly this year. I dont know why but It didn't look like I'd have any eggplants this year. I went to my cheap John's and bought a six pack of starter plants. One of the cells contained a plant that didnt look like nay eggplant I ever saw. But my wife said lets plant it. This is the monster that grew..Now what the the heck is it?

The mystery Plant

Looks a lot like bolting lettuce, but I suppose it's too big for that?

Yes, it certainly does appear to be a tobacco. My money would be on Nicotiana sylvestris, which is a widely grown annual flower, and very, very beautiful. If so, it will get 4 to 6 feet tall, with pendant, extremely fragrant white flowers that will attract moths and hummingbirds.

I agree that it looks like tobacco. I grew some one year and yea they get tall alright. The flowers were very beautiful. Keep it and see!

And to the question of smell the answer is no. Green tobacco (the plant before its dried) does not smell like cured smoking tobacco.
