 o
cabbage plant

My daughter brought home one of those cabbage contest plants and so far it seems to be doing well except for something is eating the leaves.
I have read prior posts and people wrote to check for little green worms under the leaves and I have not found any but there are tiny little bugs flying around the plant. Are these eating the leaves?
How can I prevent this from happening, other than this the leaves are nice and green and thick. I would hate for her to lose this plant when it seems to be progressing along ok.
Thanks for any help.

RE: cabbage plant

If you're positive there are no caterpillars then you should go out at night and check for slugs.

The little bugs flying around sound like fungus gnats caused from having the mix in the pot too wet or from having a dirt/compost component in the potting mix. Their larva can do damage to the roots if they are in high enough concentrations but they don't damage leaves.

What size pot is? What type of mix is it planted in? How much are you watering? And how much sun does the plant get?
