They usually grow pretty fast once they start producing, I pick mine every other day but sometimes every day it all depends on weather, Pictures would help that way we can see if there is a disease, Powdery Mildew and cucumber beetles are a problem with cukes.

Mikesurf, I have the same problem with my cucs this year⦠and zucchinis .
Lots of female flowers begin to bloom⦠then start to turn yellow, shrivel and dieâ¦
I did the research on the web - some suggest, this is a problem with pollinators or rather the lack of them. Cucumbers and zucchinis produce male and female flowers and unless female flowers are pollinated by insects with the pollen from male flowers, they will not develop and die.
I have never seen such problem in past years - I suspect, our unusually cold winter probably killed some common cucumber pollinators and we are paying the price. Try hand-pollinating them.

First: When you see a tiny cuke shrivels and dies, that means that it was not pollinated. That could be due to lack of bees and/or male flowers.

Second, If you do not pick the cukes young, the plant will spend a lot of energy on it to develop seed. That is the plant's ultimate mission. So if your cucumber is called "straight Eight " (just example) pick it when it is about 7".

Some people say bees are getting more an more scarce, We need them to pollinate.
