Yellow -) Brown spots on lower watermelon leaves?

Not sure why, but on one of my watermelon plants, the bottom leaves started turning yellow and are now turning brown. I have been giving them ammonium nitrate (like a water bottle caps worth mixed in to 4 gals of water) for nitrogen and to lower the pH which was last around 7.8.

Could this still be a nitrogen issue?

I think it would be speculation to declare anything. Uh, what are bottom leaves?
