No new blossoms - eggplant

My eggplant plants have done well until the last week by showing no new blossoms. The plants look healthy except some evidence of flea beetles. But the flea beetles have been showing up since the plants were young and they've fruited well regardless. I found one unopened blossom today that seemed dried up. Anyone know potential causes for sudden absence of blossoms?

Some varieties especially the early ones tend to set in flushes ie. set a large number then rest a while and set again after the first ones are harvested. Eggplant are used as immature fruit so if you let a couple even approach ripeness the plant will concentrate on making seeds for the next crop. Pick early and often for best production.

Plus they are subject to the condition known as Blossom Drop just as other fruiting vegetables are during high heat and humidity conditions. You can read through the FAQ here on Blossom Drop for more details if needed.

Dave, the FAQ page discusses "Blossom-end rot" but not Blossom Drop as your message references. Same thing ?

The FAQ is called something like "Why are the blooms falling off..." It may say tomatoes as that is where it is most common. Plenty of info about Blossom Drop available via Google too.

It is a common and wide spread condition that affects all fruiting vegetables as the high heat and humidity make the pollen 'tacky' and non-viable.
