17th most common question this time of year. Incomplete pollination. The Some of the cukes are turning yellow and dying too presumably means small cukes which is no pollination.

I know what you mean! That happened to mine last year. Someone gave me some cucumber transplants and also some to a friend of mine. I thought curly little cucumbers were just normally like that, until my friend showed me some of hers-- straight and about 3 times the size!! and 3 times the quantity too. But I didn't have too much time to worry about it because then all my cucumbers died from bacterial wilt.

This year my cucumbers look like a wall of yellow blossoms and crawling with honeybees, and no coincidence, the cucumbers are looking great with all the bees around. If you don't have enough bees, I guess you can look up manual pollination techniques! Good luck!

Plant flowering plants near and/or throughout the garden. Arugula gone to flower helps early season for cuke-melon.

LOL. I had one curly one, but the rest seem fine. Luckily I only had to have a little cuke sex before the reinforcements came to help.

Yes--very few bees around. I've actually been told that beekeepers are not allowed in the city right next door to use (we are at the very edge of our city). I'll have to make sure I hand pollinate. I've heard lavender attracts bees so maybe I'll plant some. Sorry for the repeat question!
