Kale question

Hi All! Was wondering if anyone might be able to help me determine what is wrong with my kale. Harvested some outer leaves about a week ago when it was thriving with the exception of a few small bugs on the interior foliage. I did spray some soapy water on the affected leaves proactively. And since the plants have deteriorated quickly, Any suggestions ? Thanks

What sort of bugs? What sort of soap? How strong? That would seem to be the cause.

A jet of plain water from the hose will dislodge many bugs.

They look a little burned from the soap but nothing too serious. If you have caterpillars, use BT.

RE: Kale question

The only bugs I ever see on my Kale are aphids. And while soap will kill them, it simply isn't necessary. Like flora suggested, sprays of water every few days is sufficient to keep populations at bay.

My guess, also, is that you sprayed with soap and left it on there during the heat and sun. Insecticidal soap is best used in the evening and rinsed off in the morning.
