Next year, you might want to include some long season and/or storage melons. There are the Chinese Hami types, Casaba/canary types and the Italian (Tendral Verde Tardif) or Spanish (Valencia) dark-skinned storage melons.

I've grown Piel de Sapo. This variety can also be used as a sort of extra-sweet cucumber if all the melons don't make it to maturity before the weather turns. Seed and peel. A neighbor of ours used immature honeydews as cucumbers, too.

Cantaloupe melons ripen too quick for me. I've switched to Creansaw melons, they ripen slower, are very similar to Cantaloupe, and think they actually taste better.

Thanks for the replies. It was nice having cantaloupes all throughout July to eat, they are so much better than the store ones. It would be nice if they kept blossoming but at least I can make room for other things now.

Crenshaws are great and are adapted to hot, dry climates, but the fruits need protection from sunscald.

Well they are now putting out new flowers so maybe they are getting ready to put out more cantaloupe

You might get lucky if there are some female flowers, your plants stay healthy and the weather holds for you. Aphids, spider mites and white flies have taken a toll on my first planting of melons. I have a later batch with melons starting to size up.

Quality of the fruit may not be as good for cantaloupes ripened in cool weather. Good luck.
