Yes there have been several questions about this lately and generally the answer is the same - stressed plants will abort blooms and fruit. Anything you can do to reduce the stress - in this case improve the drainage in the area - helps.

But to be on the safe side make sure all the other bases are covered too - feed them and try to do some very early AM hand pollination. Then hope for the weather to improve.

Thanks, they are in smartpots and not too soggy, the rest of the plant looks great. Just losing the female flowers. After it stops raining, I will fertilize them.

Same thing happening here in S.W. Indiana. I have zuccini in a pot on my deck. It has bloomed, fallen off .... repeat .... Several times. Horticulturist says because of so much rain. I do have some mushrooms growing in the pot though. :)

Maybe the female flowers did open early in the morning and closed when it got hot? Unless you were there early in the morning ! If you have bees around, they might have pollinated her !! Just the benefit of doubt.

No, they never open. I go out there 6am every day. They tips of the flowers turn brown. Then if you remove the petals the ovum is brown and mushy. I can try removing the flower earlier to fertilize it, but it may not be ready. Hopefully we get a break in the weather. Almost all of the fireworks in the area were canceled because of it. And it's been like this for weeks.
