When are my potatoes ready to pick? This is what the plants look like right now. Thanks!

I pick mine after the plants have died, But you probably could pick some small ones now if you want.

Way too early. They just start developing tubers when they flower.

I'm picking them already for more than 2 weeks - and I am North of you. I love young potato.

Yep, too early for big potatoes. At least another month.

RE: Potatoes

When did you plant? Were they 60 day? 90 day?
Because they're flowering, you can "rob" the plant now by pulling a few new potatoes off of the roots without disturbing the plant too much, and leaving the rest to keep forming. These new potatoes don't store and should be eaten right up.
Or you can wait until the leaves die back, and then your potatoes will be bigger and will store for a while.(longer or shorter depending on the type)

What's the hurry?

RE: Potatoes

It all depends upon the variety and whether it's an early or late type. I'm way north of you on the Canadian prairie and am harvesting good sized red and purple potatoes from now flowering plants that had been planted on May 12 th. I carefully dig down with my hands and remove the larger ones and leave the smaller guys to further develop.

RE: Potatoes

Thank you everybody! There is no hurry to pick... I am a first-time gardener this year and really have no idea what I'm doing. I'm actually really surprised the potato plants are doing as well as they are! I really appreciate all of the input.

That plant in the photo looks very healthy, and clearly colorado potato beetle hasn't found you yet. Be happy while ye may!
