Name that bug!

I've got a new (for me) bug and need help identifying. Unfortunalely I never have a camera with me when I see it, so no pictures.

It's about the size and shape of a bean beetle, except it is spotted and an orange red color. I thought at first that it was a lady beetle except that it lacked the large black head, was more oval shaped, and moves a lot quicker. The color was not right either.

I'm also finding it in numerous places throughout the vegetable garden.

So...friend or foe?

There are about a 150 different spotted, orange red beetles. See if any of the pics below look like it.
