Radishes growing slowly...

I planted them partial/fun sun in the best part of my garden, which is also one of the coolest parts of the garden.

I planted close to 100, I think... in a fairly small space, but I thinned them out after they'd all come up; before true leaves or anything.

The leaves are actually growing quite well, but after a quick "root exam" today at the "one week until harvest" juncture, I noticed that only around 5 of the radishes are going to be ready to harvest in a week... will the rest bulb out eventually?

Another question. Most of them have small little roots that resemble a bulb, but they aren't CLOSE to big enough to eat. That's not the problem. The problem is that most of the radishes roots appear to have a split sort of thing on them. It's like a radish, with a split that has a perfectly normal radish underneath (it's not like it split, it's like it had two layers, and a part of one peeled away). Are they bolting?

Thanks, all! Mac

I had similar issues with radish. I learned they need a lot water and cool temperature to grow well.

Where are you located? What garden zone? Please do include that info in the box provided.

It is far too late, soil is too warm in most of the country for radishes now. With heat and warm soil all you get is tops with little to no root development.
