| In Dallas Tx, temperatures have been hot 90-100 high and 70s low for the last several weeks, even several over 100 days. I have couple of vines of sponge gourd. Plants have grown well and are healthy except for the moderate aphid infestation. The plnats have been flowering now for almost 5 weeks. Only male flowers. I have not seen even a single female flower. I know these plants are supposed to bear both types on one plnat and female floweers follow the male flowers. But isn't 5 weeks kind of too long?
Is there anything I can do? Thanks. |

| I read that it has something to do with the day length. The fruit usually shows up well into fall. |

| If you're talking about luffas, mine have done fine and have tons of fruit but I have grown a variety that just didn't put on any. Where did you get the seeds? I had the same problem with long beans so don't beat yourself up if you fail with some of the veggies that might be prone to a day length problem. Just try another variety. |
