| After reading Pat Lanza's Lasagna Gardening, it came to me that I already have the two well composed wood chip piles. The utility crew dumped the wood chips about 3 years ago. A lot of the weeds were growing and I had to pull them out. But if the weeds grow well on top of the piles, then vegetables should grow well too, particularly the root vegetables. I think I should try some carrot this late summer and plant regular crop next spring. Anyone has similar experience? |

| One thing to keep in mind. --- Veggies require lots more nitrogen than do weeds. --- |

| I would try only vegetables that require less nitrogen. carrots, parsnips (too late), bush beans. |

| Should work fine for beans tomatoes etc. It would be a similar apprach to one of the latest fads. Hugelkultur. |
