 o
potato harvest!

First year gardener. Potato was not on my list initially but I got some free seed potatoes that were said to be a new breed by my university. So I planted 12 half egg-size potatoes on April 27. Today I harvested 3 plants and got a pretty satisfying harvest (75 days from seeding to harvesting)! The vines are still green, with very few yellow leaves at the bottom. But I want to have some room to start fall broccoli. Spring broccoli were eaten up by flea beetles. Today's dinner is roasted potato. Yummy! I will give the rest plants a little more time to mature.

Very appetite appealing.

I think what you have shown are a bit young, as one can judge from the skin coming off. It is ok for immediate eating but perhaps not perfect for keeping/

But those little ones make the very best new potatoes! To me, it's the real reason for growing them.

Stored potatoes you can get at the grocery.

I'm having to harvest my potatoes a bit early because of all the rain. I've solved the non-keeping problem by canning them.

Those look delicious.

The reds grow, large and early.
