I have a really excellent looking watermelon plant that is doing better than any melon plant I've had in the previous two years (my third year gardening) and I was wondering about some of the specifics for encouraging its growth and cultivating it's flavor.

I was also considering cutting the little fledgling watermelons off so that the plant puts all it's energy into one fruit. Is this worth trying?

Since it's already mid July, I would probably not allow more than 2 watermelons to set. I say 2 initally just in case something happens to one. Are any melons definitely set yet? Just curious..why did you remove your zone?

Well I have 3 strong plants going, each one has one main melon growing well and a couple (approx, golf ball sized) smaller ones.
