RE: chicken manure question

If it is a dormant garden and can compost there for a couple of months before planting, sure no problems and a great addition.

But if it is an active garden, already planted, then use it with care and primarily as a side dressing for high nitrogen use crops like corn. Beans and other legumes won't like it, tomatoes will benefit from limited amounts, and keep it away from direct contact with low-growing leafy green like spinach and lettuces.

Let the rest compost in a pile until you can add it to the dormant off-season garden.

RE: chicken manure question

Any idea how i could know how old it is? It was stored in huge pile under cover, the pile had gone hard and although it didnt smell nice it wasnt potent or amonious. Thinking its been sat there for a while but iv never used chook manure before so cant compare. It doesnt look like manure either, more like soil
