| The issue I am having is that many of the plants I am growing (about 7 varieties of sweet and spicy peppers and some tomatoes) have dark green, almost black leaves. It almost seems like I have over fertilized the soil. Additionally, a couple of the bell peppers have leaves that are going bright green, almost as if they have a deficiency. To give some additional information on my setup here is what I am using. Soil: Fafard Professional Agro-mix Pots: 2 - 10 gallon depending on the plant. Water Cycle: Typically I try to keep the soil moist at all times and do not let it dry out. Rain this season has been well above average however and the plants are getting about 2-4 inches per week on average. Any information you can provide would be great!

Follow-Up Postings:

| 1)-The one in the picture shows (probably) Phosphorus deficiency. 2) Some pepper and tomato varieties naturally have light green foliage; like Gypsy, yellow banana. While others have darker green foliage; like Jalapeno. 3)- In general a very dark green leaves is an indication of over supply of Nitrogen. In this case they need a lot more water until the excess Nitrogen is washed down and/or used up. |
