Here is a picture of the damage. It was resting on my a tarp under my neighbors pool, which they recently took down. They had sand there underneath to level the pool.

It's a tiny amount of damage and the pumpkin will scab over and be fine. If you want to see something interesting you should check out the link below.

Yeah, so it should still continue to grow? It's only been growing a few weeks, so I'm sure it's still getting bigger. I splashed it with a glass of water to rinse off some of the sand. So most likely it will continue to grow then? Was worried I screwed it up ;)

One of my pumpkins grew into a 2" hole in my wire fence and grew out of both sides of the fence, so it was far more messed up than yours. I cut out the fence and it continued to grow to full size and is now oranging up. :)

Soon after my pumpkin was pollinated and was just a bit bigger than the size of a golf ball, my finger nail went into it. It continued to grow just fine. I didn't cut into the center of it and it wasn't as deep as I thought it was. It just scabbed over.

Rodney, my hubby is a professional pumpkin (and wood) carver and has been asked to do this early in the season. It's pretty cool with names and such, but the portraits get very weird looking! LOL Nancy
