Actually i'd think it's about time you stopped watering the watermelons. Once the large fruits have formed, I cut the water off completely and they still continue to thrive with what they can access below. This way you speed up the ripening, concentrate the flavor and have less chance of splitting melons.

I grow about 600 bed feet of melons and stopped watering a month ago. Every day i'm picking 50-100 lbs of melons (honeydew, cantaloupe, watermelon).

At least this is what works for me.

Mine probably wont get to 25lbs but what is the length of a 25lbs watermelon?

25 lbs is a lunker for Crimson Sweet. They are good at 15-20 lbs. 22 lbs is ideal. Yours look really good.

I agree with madroneb . The splitting of fruit is a major concern when growing watermelon.
