Rhubarb Variety Please

My neighbor gave me a plant; I didn't know what it was and the neighbor has moved away. Now, a few months later it looks just like rhubarb, except that the stalks are fuzzy, not smooth and they don't have the normal ribbing down the center. I don't want to cook with it until I'm sure it's not some imposter plant. :-)
