 o
tiny white worms

I was battling with fireants in my raised bed, and I tried quite a few different non-chemical things and the last that I tried was coffee grounds. Then I found that they found some hole somewhere and went under the coffee grounds to setup their new home there. I started digging everywhere to disturb them and of course at the same time I destroyed some of my plant roots. :-( And as I was turning the soil over (mostly the top layer which was coffee grounds), I found a lot of little white worms that I had never seen before. They are too small to take pics to show. What are they? Are they harmful to my plants (okra, watermelon, kabocha squash)? I had previously put worm castings down before I covered the whole raised bed with a thick layer of coffee grounds because those fireants made me mad!! But there were zero worms in the worm castings and it had been sitting in the sun for a long time, so I thought if there were worms, they would be dead by the time I put the worm castings in my raised bed.

So what are those little white worms? What should I do?

Could they be ant eggs?

They move, they are not eggs. They are bigger than the fireants, but smaller than winged ants who also live with the fireants for some reason. Could they be those winged ants larvae???

Since they are mainly in the coffee grounds, I'm wondering if they're pot worms. I sometimes get them in my worm compost especially when there are a lot of coffee grounds. How small are they?

They're about 1/4 inch long.

maggots?

Maggots? really? They are thin and tiny and jump.

1/4 inch & white, living in coffee grounds & worm compost sounds like potworms. Google potworm image to see. If I remember correctly, putting a slice of milk-soaked bread will attract them & then you can discard the bread. I don't think they're harmful to the plants, though.
