Here's how to plant and care for your own mini cornfield
Full StoryWith our 2,000 ft altitude and cool nights even in the hottest summer weather, we're just starting our corn harvest. I've been picking Bodacious for a week now and hope to get some corn relish done tomorrow. New for us this year is Amaize. An Idaho friend introduced us to it last year. Germination was only 60% and the plants grew to about 5'5" (my height). It's a white corn, sweet and stays crunchy when cooked. The Bodacious seems more starchy in comparison. 2 ears of Boadacious are enough for a lunch, but 2 ears of Amaize aren't very filling.
I'll probably try some corn relish with the Amaize, too. Not sure if I'll plant it again next year. If I do, I'll try planting indoors and transplanting it. I did that with the Bodacious and had very good results.
Anyone else try Amaize? What were your experiences?
