With our 2,000 ft altitude and cool nights even in the hottest summer weather, we're just starting our corn harvest. I've been picking Bodacious for a week now and hope to get some corn relish done tomorrow. New for us this year is Amaize. An Idaho friend introduced us to it last year. Germination was only 60% and the plants grew to about 5'5" (my height). It's a white corn, sweet and stays crunchy when cooked. The Bodacious seems more starchy in comparison. 2 ears of Boadacious are enough for a lunch, but 2 ears of Amaize aren't very filling. I'll probably try some corn relish with the Amaize, too. Not sure if I'll plant it again next year. If I do, I'll try planting indoors and transplanting it. I did that with the Bodacious and had very good results. Anyone else try Amaize? What were your experiences?

Amaize is relatively new, not widely available. Reading the description on Burpee's website doesn't say if its SU, SE or SH2, which I'd want to know before I grow it. Considering its described as having a pop or crunch when you bite into it, and several people have commented on poor germination, I'd guess its SH2 (supersweet or an augmented variant). I've grown Bodacious before and was happy with the results. This year my varieties are Sugar Baby (just started picking this week), Painted Hill, Ruby Queen and Bodacious.

What is amazing to me is that George Crookham is named as the major developer, yet it is not listed among Crookham's varieties. It is a Burpee exclusive. There is a lot of hype about it, but no commercial vendors which arouses suspicion in my feeble mind. Crookham seed has several outstanding whites that have done well for me. Argent, Frosty, Silver Duchess ( my favorite),
