Harvesting Butternut Squash

AiliDeSpain

My early butternut hybrid plants planted in Mid May were looking rough, some dying vines and three of the five fruits were tan and looking as though the stem was drying up so I was doing some trimming and one of the butternuts snapped right off the vine when I picked it up. I decided to do the same with two more and they snapped off easily as well. Does this mean they were ready or do you think it was too early? The DTM for this squash is 85 days per parkseed where I purchased the seeds. I am attaching a photo of the harvested fruit.
Also, curiously one plant recently put out two new female flowers which were pollinated. Any chance of these reaching maturity?
