 o
some kind of stink bug on my corn?

These guys have been using my corn stalks as a nursery this summer. Haven't seemed to affect the corn cobs at all, just all over the upper portion of the stalks. They look like stink bugs, but they are black with tiny red dots instead of brown like the highly annoying BM stink bugs I'm accustomed to.

That's a nymph (youngster) of the brown marmorated stink bug.

Suggest you start trying to get rid of them now. If left to their own devices, they can damage your corn by feeding on the kernels right through the shucks.

Depending upon the numbers, you can flick into soapy water or use a shop-vac to get them off your plants.

They attack & damage 400 hosts!

Agree with Jean. Squish them aggressively. The good news is they are fairly slow especially early or late in the day.

The other good news is their numbers seem to be much lower this year.

squishing them will make your fingers stink. Put a cup of diluted dish washing liquid under it and shake it down into the cup. repeat as many times as needed.
