Ok, who ate my winter squash?

I had what I think is a chicken eat at a couple of my winter squash today, but I'm not sure if people think other animals may have attempted such an act in broad daylight? I've also had some of my delicata squash eaten at, and the skins of a few pumpkins have been eaten away as well. I posted some photos of the crime scene.

I have experienced ONLY rats eating young squash, melons... Of course, they just eat some not all of it.

My chickens are not at all interested in winter squash, or any squash for that matter. I've started harvesting a few and they don't have the first peck mark.

Rats do love winter squash, almost as much as they like sweet potatoes. I'd put out a couple of big snap traps tonight and see what you get. We have had rats before, and now maintain a zero tolerance policy.

Those sure look like gnaw marks from rodent teeth, not peck marks from a beak. The delicata look a little more like a bit of slug or insect damage.
