Pumpkin vines dying back

ahhhh here I am one month after my first pumpkin started growing and the vine is dying. The pumpkin (big max variety) is about the size of a mini basketball and has turned a dark orange. Does this mean that it is done growing?
I have two others growing on two different plants. One is the size of a basketball, the vine seems reasonably healthy and the pumpkin is not yet orange, however it doesn't seem to be getting any bigger.
The other is softball size and the vine looks sad, but it is not yet orange.
Thoughts?

Sounds like they got a late start and for zone 5 this is about the end of the season.
If it's orange and the vine is dying, I'd pick it. For the others watch weather and pick before frost.
