green pepper question ... brown spots on bottoms of peppers. pics

this is a question from my neighbor who shares our yard for his garden, too ...

all his pepper plants of this variety (green peppers) ... pics included below ... have these brown spots on the bottom tips ... mine, about 40 feet away from his are not bothered with this at all ... what can this be? he does not overwater nor is it too hot here right now ....

thank ya'll for all your help this garden year ... my garden has certainly benefited for all the excellent information i have received ... darlene

It looks like blossom end rot.

Yes, it is BER blossom end rot as Robin said. There is a FAQ here all about it and many discussions that a search will pull up for you. Just search this forum for 'BER' and 'Blossom end rot' for all the details. The rest of the fruit is fine to eat.

It looks like sun scald to me. When a brown spot appears, which then turns into a slight depression in the skin--looks rather like a scar, it is sun scald. It is not a disease. One can eat the fruit, just cut away the brown spot.
