| My poor, poor peas.
As an experiment to see how my peas will perform for my fall, I sowed the peas in my planter box. After few days later... it got raided by the squirrel (Named Squirrel of Doom starting today.) It raided all other plants, trying to find more peas. My garden's dishevelled. I tidied it up, only to have Squirrel of Doom raiding it again later in same day! I dread seeing my garden tomorrow or days after that. Squirrel of Doom was a good squirrel - it never gave me trouble though it would stop by once in a while to observe. The weirdest thing is I heard the squirrels like strawberry fruits so I often was worried about my strawberry plants. They've been bearing fruits steadily since June and still are today. And yet, nothing's taking a bite out of them, not even birds, bugs, etc. (Knock on wood...) My guard cat was snoozing on her job so I fired her. |

| Have you tried to make a chicken wire cover dome to keep him out? Is there plenty of water for him to drink? I do not know but I have heard they go for the liquid. Anyway have fun solving your problem. |

| I HATE squirrels!!!! useless tree rats as far as I'm concerned. Anyway...I have 1" welded wire cages on all of my beds. For things like peas/beans, I plant my seeds under the trellis, then place 1/4" wire mesh down on the surface of the ground. it allow water in, allows plants to grow up and NO squirrels are digging up my seeds/plants. |
