| I am lucky this year that I didn't have squash bugs until now, after lots of squash have grown. But the other day I found them living by the dozens on some squash leaves. I picked the leaves off with the young ones on them and threw them away from the garden. Can they fly? |

| No. Wings only develop in the adults |

| I wonder how far away from the garden I could put them and they wouldn't make it back? I suppose that might be crueler than stepping on them........which I can't do. Maybe a bird would like them for lunch? Or would the parent go and carry them back to the garden? haha |

| I stuff leaves or plants laden with squash bug nymphs into the composter. I'm sure they die grisly deaths, but they don't make it out alive. |
|
| I usually place leaves with bugs into half-bucket of water, making sure they all covered with water. After day or so - just toss the green tea in the compost pile, compost will benefit from it and all the bugs will be dead. |
|
| I don't take a chance. All cucurbits go out to the landfill at the end of the season. |

| Thanks everyone. ltilton.......but don't they stay in the ground towards the end of the season? |
|
| I think they remain on the vines as long as vines are alive. I usually pull mine before then. But I'm definitely not going to keep the vines on the premises. |

| No they cant fly...but unless you took them a mile or so from your house they will come back. I kill them on sight. I pick them and kill them or if there are a few |

| C'mon, shayne....squashbug nymphs can't find their back to a plant once removed. |
