Can You Ripen Ground Cherries Inside?

This year I grew ground cherries for the first time. They were a bit slow to get going but are now huge and are full of cherries.

A few of the cherries have fallen off already but most are still hanging onto the plant. Most of the paper husks are now yellowing but with the turn in the weather (we had our first hard frost last night) I'm doubtful they will continue to ripen outside.

I know you're supposed to wait until they fall from the plant before harvesting but if I were to pick them off the plant and bring them inside will they continue to ripen?

(Everything that has ripened already was quickly consumed and I'd like to get enough to make some jam or jelly.... )
