rotten slugs on cantelope

I am mad! I had three beautiful cantaloupe that I covered two days ago be a use of the cold snap that came thru. When I uncovered them this morning I found this. They had several slugs apiece on them. Not pictured is the one that the rotten little #@%@# ate a giant hole all the way thru.
These two just have outside damage. Assuming that they are ripe enough, are they still ok to eat?
This is my fourth year gardening and this is the first time I've ever SEEN a slug on my vegetables or fruit. I still have a sugar baby watermelon and two spaghetti squash out there. Are the slugs going after them next?

They don't look ripe at all, unless they're a variety I don't recognize. Otherwise, I'd think they were good to eat, although you might want to cut off the slimy parts.

And get some Sluggo.

Are they nutmeg melons or something like that? If so, yeah, you can probably eat the rest. if they're more typical cantaloupe varieties, I'd have to agree with ltilton.

I assume they are typical cantaloupe variety. I got the seedlings at a greenhouse last spring and they were just labeled as cantaloupe.

I second the sluggo. Works great!
