Hello, I planted asparagus from roots and this is the 3rd year. Last 2 years the fern grew pretty good but this year there is not much growth and I dont see any new shoots. I do organic gardening. During in march this year I added new organic compost. Am I missing anything? Please help. Thanks.

Uh, reality check here folks. I don't think fertilizer is the answer if the OP has asparagus that hasn't sprouted and it's september. If asparagus doesn't show itself by mid-spring it's dead. Sorry for the bad news. I loose plants every winter to rodents and have just accepted that I have to replant some every few years. -Mark |

I take the OP to be saying that her spring shoots were more sparse than in previous years and there were no summer shoots. But I do have to wonder if these spears were harvested, and if so, how heavily.

Ah, if that's what was meant, I agree with you ltilton.

Perhaps the OP could clarify.
