Too Soon to Start Crimson Clover as Cover Crop?

Hi,

I wanted to try planting crimson clover as a cover crop in at least one of our raised beds. I'm failing to find information on whether it is too soon to plant it now......

I'm in N. CA (Zone 9), and September is typically one of the warmest months of the year.

Does anyone know if I need to wait until later in the year to get it started?

Thanks,
Elsa
