Butternut Squash

Merfy

Hi I have grown one butternut squash vine this year for the first time with seeds I saved from a squash I bought last year. The vine is hugh and produced 5 fruits. They are approx 11" long with a circumference of approx 16" at the bulbous end. They are however still very green and I am hoping someone can let me know if and when the skin will turn orangy like the one I harvested the seeds from or do I pick them green (are they ripe?) and store them until they change colour. As you can see I am a complete novice with this plant.
