Newbie butternut squash harvesting

This is my first time growing butternut squash. I have about 13 big ones on the vines. The vines have started to get mildew the past month and are not looking so hot and dying back. I tried the thumbnail test pushing hard. It left an indentation but did not actually pierce the skin. A few have some faint green lines to them still. The stems are not dried out, but are not totally green and supple anymore either. The weather is turning cooler and we are supposed to get down to 37 tonight. Should I harvest them and bring them inside to cure? I read it is best to cure in the warm sun, but that they should not be out in a frost. That would entail hauling them all in and out of the house for a while though. Or is it better to leave them on the vine until it is supposed to get down to 32? After tonight it will warm up a bit and only get down to 40's for a while.
