I didn't plant it. I pulled one up and it's growing out of a bean?

The seeds look sorta like small shriveled up peas. The flowers and leaves are not only pretty but also edible....a peppery taste to liven up salad, etc. Mine are mush after several freezes.

I added nasturtium leaves to salads early in the summer when the leaves were young & tender. I made my husband try one (he was gone when I was eating them) this fall but I guess they became less tasty later in the season. After the face he made, I didn't taste it myself...

I think they added an almost radish-like flavor.

The flowers smell sweet, even though they taste spicy-sharp. People sometimes pickle the young seedpods and use them like capers.

I just picked the season's last two nasturtium flowers, which were protected under a celery bed, and put them in water in the window.

All parts are edible. The dried seeds can be ground up and used like mustard. Actually, the leaves are more tender now than summer time because it is cold. The flowers can decorate a toss salad or used as garnish,
Mine are still flowering since we've had no frost yet and will not have one for atleast another two weeks. This is the rewrd of living down south. I have lived in Connecticut for a long time and will be there for Thanksgiving.I know how it is up there; colds, snow storms, blizzards...
