How many hours of full sun are they getting? If it's a round 6 hours they should grow okay. And since it's only been a week, they are still getting their root systems established so you shouldn't expect much growth at this time. I say give them more time, maybe another week or two, to see how they grow before thinking about moving them.

Well, it is only a couple weeks since the spring equinox and the sun has plenty of height to gain yet. Can you tell us what the objects are that create shade, how tall they are, and how far away they are? Also, where in NZ are you located?

'They are growing slowly ....' I would also say give them a chance. They have to get their roots settled before they start to grow visibly. What are the plants and what have temperatures been like?

Beets, celery, onions, broccoli, cauliflower, tomatoes, spinach, leeks...

Definitely not getting six hours of sun. I feel silly for not assessing the sun before going ahead and planting them there!! We have had a few warm days recently, around 75 Fahrenheit. But it's also been raining and grey on and off. We are in the far north of nz... Whangarei to be exact. A nice sunny and hot summer region. There are trees from next door blocking the sun which unfortunately I can't do anything about. Quite large, well established trees.

If you able, buy new seedlings, plant them in more sunny location, but keep old ones where they are. You can compare how they do and will know for next year what to do. In my experience morning sun is the best sun plants can get, but I still plant in the areas that doesn't have it - I just give a better spot to the plants I care more about.
