Kale insect?

Does anyone know from the picture what this is on my kale? It was on the broccoli last month so I pulled it, now it is on the kale here as well as across the yard. Would like to know if I can wash and eat it or if I should pull what's left and throw away. Also, since it is here, should I worry about it being a problem or spreading next year? Thanks!

Aphids. Blast them off with a hose. Repeat as needed. If you find it necessary, use an insecticidal soap. Or rub the leaves with your fingers (gloved if you want) to squish them.

Can you wash them off and eat the kale? Yes.

Next year just deal with them as you see them.

To be more specific, cabbage aphids. They *love* all cole crops.
