What type of Brassica is this?

First year fall gardening and got to the nursery late - ended up with some really leggy brassica's that were labeled as collards - but they dont look like my regular collards. Anyone know what these are?

Difficult to tell at this stage, but collard is a definite possibility. Morris Heading collard possibly. It would help if you knew the variety.

Thanks farmerdill. Guess it could just be a different variety than what I am used to. I will check the tag when I get home, but pretty sure it just said "Collards".

Good learning experience at least :)

FWIW, tags can sometimes get switched around by other customers...

That's usually what happens. Or customers who are just thinking about maybe buying a certain line of plant will help themselves to a label to take home so they can look it up and leave a cell pack unmarked.

Maybe a Portuguese kale (which is actually a type of collard, not kale).

Collard.
